Check Up-15 Months

Evan had his 15 month check up today. He weighs exactly 24 pounds and is 33" tall. He is in the 50% for his weight and still in the 95% for his height. His head is 19-1/2" and it is in the 95% too!

He had two shots today. One of which was the MMR which I have been dreading since hearing about having to do it when he was born. He did well. He cried but not too long and was back to himself within minutes. I know the shots are uncomfortable but I think he really objects to the nurse holding his leg still more than the actual shot.

Later this afternoon, we got to hang out with Rachel and Isabel. We had the best time at the bluff playing and then we had a spaghetti dinner! Evan seemed so happy to go to sleep after having such a big day.

12 Month Appointment

"He's a genius!"

That is what every parent loves to hear. Dr. R told me that about you today. Typical one year old only say one word. You say four! You are 22 pounds and a little over 32" tall. You are in the 95% for your height. I have such hope for you to be a tall man. It is so nice to be tall. You showed off your skills for Dr. R today. This was the first time you ever did that. You pointed to things that interested you and clapped.

We had just finished your antibiotics from the ear infections you had at Christmas while we were in Texas. Your ears are clear and you are back to being you. Your ears looked good and were back to being clear. You were amazing with your medication each day. You would lay back in our arms and just drink the medicine.

6 Month Doctor Appointment

We went today and it was hard on Evan. I just hate these appointments. I am finding now that Evan is a bit older, he holds onto his cry longer. The nurse tried to distract him with a lighted, colored top. It worked for a little while but as soon as the top stopped Evan cried again. He was so sad. He fell asleep as soon as he was in his car seat. He was so tired and upset he wouldn't even look at me. It all made me so sad too. We got home and when he woke up he was better. He is still not himself but better. I was getting him ready for his bath tonight and as I undressed him I saw those two huge, silver-glitter band-aids one on each leg. A reminder of the day.

Evan is 18 pounds (65%) and is 28" long!! (95%)!! The doctor said his length is the length of a nine month old! He is going to be tall and gorgeous. Look out world.

We have to get him a new car seat pronto! He is too long for the one he has now. It is for babies 27" and under....we are going tomorrow. We are also eating solids twice a day now. We are doing a breakfast and a dinner. We had sweet potatoes for the first time today. he loved them. I am anxious to give him some sort of fruit so I can mix it with the cereal. He might like it better. Steven brought two bags of fresh plums home. I am going to make some of them into baby food tomorrow.

On a side note-Evan rolled over 3-4 times tonight. He rolled from his back to his belly and then back. He was so proud when he did it he screamed! It was so cute. I love to see how proud he gets when he does something new.

2 Month Check Up

Little Evan had a hard time this morning. He received two shots. One in each leg. I had requested a modified shot schedule after hearing about Evan's friend Sofia's 2 month check up experience. The modified schedule means he can only receive two shots at a time. Usually-the child receives four! I was heartbroken hearing his screams. I had never heard him scream that loud. I held him and he quickly fell asleep almost immediately.

He has gained weight and grown. He now weighs 11 lbs. 12 Ozs. He is now 23-1/2" long.

The shots can give him a low grade fever so we are taking it easy today and resting.

One Month Check Up

Evan's jaundice is still a concern. We had to have his levels checked again. Dr. Roberts said it may be just due to being a breastfed baby that the jaundice is hanging on. We need to check his levels just to be sure.

He is growing! He weighs 8 lbs. 6 ozs. He is 20-1/4" long.
