Ducks
We went to playgroup at the park today. Evan had a great time with his friends. He was crawling all over the place and checking out everything he passed by. He noticed sparrows hopping on the ground. Within seconds Evan was crawling and chasing after them yelling "Ducks..ducks..duck!".

Fun Times
We went to Audrey's party on Saturday. It was a blast. It was like a carnival for one year olds. Evan even got to get his caricature drawn. He had so much fun going from the water table to the bouncer full of multi-colored balls. Evan's favorite entertainment of the day was a toy shaped like a door frame. The babies could go in and out of it. It has a doorbell and all sorts of bells and whistles! He went right for it and went back to it a couple of times. Little Audrey was such a hostess and her Mommie G sure knows how to throw a party!

The Pumpkin Patch
We went to the pumpkin patch today. We met up with our playgroup. It was a fun day of pictures and seeing giant pumpkins. Evan's favorite word right now is "Ooooooo" and he used it alot today! He was fascinated by the pumpkins. He would pat them and say "Oooooo". He would walk towards them with such excitement. It was a fun day.
Which one Mommie?

Save Me a Seat!
Evan is sitting! Recently, he has not been too happy about laying down. When we do lay him down his little chin is struggling to push himself up. He gets frustrated and cries to have someone pick him up. I usually hold him between my legs so he can sit or a balance him with pillows so he can be sitting. But-today he can sit up all by himself.
Today at playgroup we were listening to a woman speak about child development. I was interested in the topic and was busy eating my lunch. As usual, Evan was sitting between my legs on the ground with all the other Mommies and babies. At one point I looked down at him and noticed he wasn't touching me. I wasn't bracing him at all. I quickly moved completely out of the way to find my baby sitting there all by himself. It happened overnight! Then-tonight we got home and before his bath he was on the bed rolling over and turning. he started to do the army crawl across the bed. He is going to be crawling in no time. Today I learned that babies usually sit unsupported by eight months. Evan turns seven months tomorrow.

Mondays
"Rainy days and Monday always get me down..."
I thought about that song today and how it isn't true for me! I love Mondays because it is play group day. Evan and I went to Karin and Elijah's for a pool party. Just about the time we got to the pool it was time for Evan to take a nap so we didn't swim too long. It was better in order for either one of us to get too much sun. Evan took a nap on my lap while I talked to Thorna for a while as her baby London slept on her lap too.
Evan is doing great with starting solid food. He has had these foods so far: carrot, sweet potato, avocado, rice cereal, oatmeal, plums, peaches, banana and pear. I gave him a little chicken lastnight and he loved it. I think next will be chicken, squash, peas and maybe mango? He loves carrots. So-far that is his absolute favorite. He will eat those more than anything else. A success right now is eating more than a couple of bites. I am hoping to find a fruit he likes so I can add that to his cereal in the morning. We are eating together as a family each night and it has really helped him to encourage his eating. It is fun to all share food together. It is the way it should be!
Evan is enjoying his new car seat. He is so much more comfortable. He likes to look out the window. His seat is located on the far right behind the front passenger seat so he has a whole world to watch as we are driving.
He slept well lastnight. He slept for five hours in a row. He has only done that three times so far. I hope tonight is good for us too.

Watermelon Eating Contest
This last weekend we had all the babies at the pool eating watermelon for the first time. Isabel who was our hostess won the contest hands down! She is the expert watermelon eater!! But these three little ones didn't do too bad either.
Sofia thinks this is yummy and cannot believe the whole piece is just for her!
Evan cannot believe how good it tastes! Mommy this feels so good on my sore gums. Please don't move it away!Monday, June 30, 2008
