Pillows in the middle of the night

Mama..the pillows get up in the middle of the night. They say, "whatcha doin?" They have little feet that pop out and they run and run. They run around and play with trucks and then they come back to bed!

Learning to say thanks

Today Evan received some stickers on our stoop when we arrived home. We guessed they were from our neighbor Monica. E loves Monica and they are buddies. He stayed with the stickers for a long time looking at them. I ran into the kitchen and started to prepare some food for dinner. A few minutes later Evan called my name and said, "Momma, I want to go up and See Monica and say thank you for my stickers". We ran upstairs together to find her. I praised him a few times tonight what a big boy he is by asking to say thank you for his gift. I was so proud.

Heart Felt

This past week has been huge for my little guy. Just startung preschool has been overwhelming for him and I believe there are many feelings running through his little head. He now says," Mama, I love you" many times a day. It is so heartfelt and loving. It brings tears to my eyes. It is as if he is just realizing the power and feelings behind those words. I love how random it is too. We can be driving down the street and he will say it to me with a smile.

New Sayings

E has been amazing with his commnication. He seems to excel with speech. He just gets it. He will say things and put together phrases that I have no idea how he understands the connections. Lately, I have found joy in a few new phrases and I don't want to forget them.

"Mama, Isn't that amazing? That's amazing. Amazing Momma?"

"What about that? Momma, what about that?!"

" I have an idea! Momma, I have an idea".

New Words

Uh-oh!

Tiny
This is a funny one. E and I were eating yogurt one day and I was feeding him. Instead of taking a normal bite he just nibbled the point of the spoon and then gave me a huge smile and giggled. I had to laugh. It was so funny. So-that became our thing and I know will ask him if he wants a "tiny" bite or a "big" bite. He sometimes will just take a tiny bite on his own and look up at me and with a big smile will say, "Tiny".

Hot and Cold

One of Evan's first words was "Hot". I would make a cup or tea and he would reach out to touch the cup but quickly retreat and say, "Hota!". Lately-his new word has been cold. Well-not exactly a word...he does a shrug with his shoulders up to his ears to convey he know something feels cold. It is a testament to how expressive this little one is! I shared some ice cream with him over the weekend at a birthday party. He took his first bite and immediately did his little shrug and a quick sign for "MORE!!".

Talking in the Car

Evan and I were driving home tonight from visiting friends in Hermosa Beach. At one point someone pulled out in front of me and I sarcastically said,"Nice".

Then, I hear a small voice from the backseat, "Nice" he said, repeated in the same inflection.

Ducks

We went to playgroup at the park today. Evan had a great time with his friends. He was crawling all over the place and checking out everything he passed by. He noticed sparrows hopping on the ground. Within seconds Evan was crawling and chasing after them yelling "Ducks..ducks..duck!".

Trees

Evan has an amazing comprehension for words. He understands so many now and can point to a variety of things when asked where something is. He does it alot when we are reading to him at night before bed. It is a fun activity to do with him during the day too. "Evan, Where's the dog?" Now not only does he point at a dog but he pants too! He has this book that I have been reading to him for months. It has a picture of a cartoon image of a dog. Whenever I get to that page I have always made a panting sound. I am amazed at how he is retains information as we haven't read that book in a while and all of the sudden now he pants when he sees a dog. It is so funny.

Today we were in the car going to Westwood. Traffic was horrible and there was a detour along Sepulveda. It is a tree-lined street. We have a sunroof in the backseat and keep the mesh open for Evan to view out. I stole a look at him from the rear view mirror to find him staring up at the trees. I said to him "Evan, where are the trees?" He quickly pointed up identifying the trees passing by. A few minutes later I heard him say "Trees". He was still pointing.
