He Loves to Laugh

Today was the best day. It was an uneventful Tuesday. Evan and I hung out at home and do what we do. It was so much fun to hang out with my baby.

Later in th evening, I started to prepare dinner as we waited for Steven to arrive home. I was in the kitchen and Evan was in his swing looking out the window. As I was preparing food I heard this little giggle coming from the swing. It made me smile. Then-I heard it again and had to peak around the corner to see what my son had found to be funny. There he was in the swing with his blanket pulled up to his nose. When he saw me looking at him he started to laugh which made me laugh. For the rest of the evening as I was preparing dinner, whenever I would look at Evan we would both laugh. It was the most amazing thing.

Our Weekend

We had a busy weekend. Yesterday Evan and I had a picnic lunch with Brandie and Sofia. Thanks Brandie! She made the best chicken salad sandwich! It was wrapped in parchment paper and beautifully presented. She said it was from her deli days!

Today we went to Rachel and Isabel's house. We met Rachel through our Monday Mom's group. They invited the Mom's group over for a swimming party. It was so fun. Evan did so well swimming. He was kicking and everything! He treated the pool like it was a giant bathtub. We also gave him his first taste of watermelon. Rachel is great with giving Isabel all sorts of different food. After we all saw Isabel snacking on the watermelon all of us other moms gave it to our babies too! Evan loved it. I think it felt good to his teeth.

A Lullaby Surprise

Each night when I rock Evan to sleep, I sing to him the same songs over and over. I have such wonderful plans of singing beautiful lullabies but it never really turns out that way.

I start with "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and by the 6-7 time I switch to "Michael Row the Boat a Shore".....then there is the try of "Hush, Hush, Little Baby". I sing maybe the first sentence and cannot for the life of me remember the rest of the words. I have no memory anymore.

So, my lullaby to Evan ends up with me singing whatever comes to mind: memories of the day, plans for tomorrow and how much I love and appreciate him. These words are all put into song to the melody of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". I call it the "Lullaby Surprise".

The "Everyday" is going way too fast

For the first time, I just read the first few months of postings. It was amazing to see how big Evan has gotten and how far we have come. It is also sad to see how fast it has all past.

I remember working full-time and thinking life was passing me by. I would get up to go to work and get home at bedtime to sleep. I thought that staying home would help life to move slower. I think some days do move slower than they use to or at least my pace is slower. But, I find time is still racing by especially now as I see my son grow. I can only imagine how the next 6 months is going to go.

I am just going to continue to take one day at a time and enjoy Evan every second of every day.

Evan Pictorial Update-Six Months

Evan sits with me differently now when I carry him. He holds onto me. He is taller so he can look over my shoulder at the world around him.

He is looking more and more like a little boy now than a newborn.

We are still getting into solid foods. We have had: sweet potatoes, cereal, avocados, plums and bananas. He eats between 2-6 spoonfuls. We have two meals a day: Breakfast (8am)and Dinner(5pm). He is so much fun!

Daddy is has the best expressions for making solid food exciting!

Baby Reno is a great place to visit!

The laundry monster comes and piles all the warm laundry on top of babies. He loves it!

Evan loves his chicken.

A Walk In the Park

We have a daily tradition. When Steven gets home from work, we all go for a walk. It is usually around the time Evan is about to take his last catnap. However, recently that catnap is disappearing and he is all about looking and touching the world around him. It is amazing to se the world from his perspective. He is so curious and full of wonder. It is fun to expose him to new things and see what he thinks of them. We have placed Evan's feet in the grass many times. Now he knows about it and will reach out to touch it. Nature is important to this little guy. It will be interesting to see how much he still loves it when he gets older. Trees are still the most amazing thing to him.
