"Rainy days and Monday always get me down..."
I thought about that song today and how it isn't true for me! I love Mondays because it is play group day. Evan and I went to Karin and Elijah's for a pool party. Just about the time we got to the pool it was time for Evan to take a nap so we didn't swim too long. It was better in order for either one of us to get too much sun. Evan took a nap on my lap while I talked to Thorna for a while as her baby London slept on her lap too.
Evan is doing great with starting solid food. He has had these foods so far: carrot, sweet potato, avocado, rice cereal, oatmeal, plums, peaches, banana and pear. I gave him a little chicken lastnight and he loved it. I think next will be chicken, squash, peas and maybe mango? He loves carrots. So-far that is his absolute favorite. He will eat those more than anything else. A success right now is eating more than a couple of bites. I am hoping to find a fruit he likes so I can add that to his cereal in the morning. We are eating together as a family each night and it has really helped him to encourage his eating. It is fun to all share food together. It is the way it should be!
Evan is enjoying his new car seat. He is so much more comfortable. He likes to look out the window. His seat is located on the far right behind the front passenger seat so he has a whole world to watch as we are driving.
He slept well lastnight. He slept for five hours in a row. He has only done that three times so far. I hope tonight is good for us too.

It's Friday
It's Friday and Evan and I hung low at home. Well-we did go get his new carseat installed. He looks much more comfortable. It's funny because I am so use to Evan having a time limit on how long he will be in his carseat. Today on the way home I heard him give out a few "almost done with this, Mommy!" cries. But what I didn't realize is that the cries weren't saying that at all. When I looked at him he was looking at a toy he had dropped and was frustrated he couldn't reach it! I hope this new seat gives him a new appreciation of the car. He is closer to the window now so he seemed to enjoy looking at everything passing.
We went to Trader Joe's and Evan had fun. He was thrilled with anything that I would place into the cart and wanted to test it out first to make sure we should buy it. He would take it and mouth it to death and then drop it. Sometimes the item would make it into the cart and sometimes not. Nonetheless-we had a great day.

Watermelon Eating Contest
This last weekend we had all the babies at the pool eating watermelon for the first time. Isabel who was our hostess won the contest hands down! She is the expert watermelon eater!! But these three little ones didn't do too bad either.
Sofia thinks this is yummy and cannot believe the whole piece is just for her!
Evan cannot believe how good it tastes! Mommy this feels so good on my sore gums. Please don't move it away!Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Peek-a-boo!
The last couple of days have been so much fun with Evan. He is now really into his toys. I joke with Steven that really he and I are Evan's favorite toys as he loves to play with us.
Lastnight, after his bath, we played peek-a-boo with his towel. Steven would place the towel on top of Evan and he would kick to make the towel move to uncover his little face. As soon as we would see that little smile peeking out from under that towel we would both say with a huge smile "Peek-a-boo!". Evan would laugh and laugh and want to continue this fun game.
Tonight Steven was playing with Evan. I was busy doing a load of laundry. As they were playing on the bed, I folded some laundry and laid it next to them. Evan reached over and grabbed a folded pile of clothes. He took one of the shirts and placed it over his own face. He quickly used his hands to pull the shirt away and stare up at Steven. Steven would smile and say "Peek-a-boo!". Evan was so proud of his new found talent and continued to repeat the game. Steven called me in so I could watch what was happening. Evan saw me and wanted to show me what he could now do. Evan pulled that shirt from over his face and looked up at me. "Peek-a-boo!" I quickly said with a huge smile. Evan laughed and was beaming from ear to ear.
