Dear Evan-Six Months Old

Dearest Little Evan-
You are so dear to us. Daddy and I am so smitten with you. You are full of wonder and so excited about the world around you. It is fun for me to watch you as you take it all in and then give one of those precious Evan sighs. This month has been full. We do 2-3 walks a day. We look at flowers and trees. You play with toys along our journeys but often pause to look at the things along the way that interest you. Sometime I wish I could see what you are gazing upon. You stare at things with such curiosity.

This month we started you eating solids. We have just finished a week of cereal. You were ok with it. Most days you ate 2-3 bites. There was a day that you ate more and often ate less. Today was our first real food. Avocado. You know what my little man? You loved it! You would swirl it around in your mouth and swallow. Then with almost urgency look for the spoon again to give you more. I was so trilled to see your reaction! We ate and laughed. After your feeding I turned the chair towards the table and placed the avocado on the table so you could play with it. You moved and mushed that avocado all over the table. You took breaks in between to look at the window fan. We finished the meal with your yellow sippy cup. Daddy has coined it your "Flash Gordon" cup (more on that later).

You have a new fancy for toys. Yesterday, I was doing laundry and left you in your exersaucer while I ran around the corner to change the wash over. I had left you with a magazine. You love paper. You love to tear at it and of'course try to eat it! As I approached the laundry room I heard you give a huge cry. I thought to myself I shouldn't of left you with the magazine thinking you hurt your mouth on it. But-as I cam around the corner I noticed you had dropped the magazine. As soon as I gave it back you stopped crying. I was amazed to see such a reaction from you and realized that you now know that when you drop something it still exists. In the last week I have moved a toy out of your hand and seconds later replaced it but you give me a small cry to let me know it is yours and you don't want it to go away.

You have rolled over but I don't think you know yet that you can do this whenever you want. That day is soon approaching!

Happy Birthday!!! We love you!
Mommie
